I have embarked on a quest to improve my comfort on the bike especially on rides over 50 miles in length. This year on rides around the 50 mile mark I have experienced some numbness and hot spots. This in fact has lead to my first saddle sore. Sore of the nature are not fun and are to be avoided at all cost =)
My approach so far has been to purchase a new seat, plan to purchase a new set of shorts with a nicer chamois. The seat I chose is a Terry Fly Gel (Ti Rails). My first ride (of any significant length) will be this Friday. I’ll let you know my first thoughts when I return.

Ride Description: Hutchens Lak Loop in reverse. This was the Velo-City May Fun-Raiser event and the second ride in the Century Club that is building toward a Century ride he end of August. The pace was light and we stopped a few times to allow riders to catch back up.
Riding partners: Jim Mahaney and about 9 others from Velo-City.
Thought(s) of the day: Nice group of riders. We stayed together as a group and even though the pace was a bit slower than what I would normally ride, it was more than made up with extra conversation.
