Ride Data
Ride #45 – October 6, 2007
Distance:
 69.42 miles
Year to Date Disance: 1989.95 miles
Time: 4.36.14
Avg. Speed: 18.4 mph
Max. Speed: 33.6 mph

Ride Description: South, south and then a bit east and then North.  Aka the fabled South Haven cruise.

Riding Partners: Mike Mortorff

Notes on the day:  Very hot (near record high) for October.  Upper 80’s when we took off.

I rode with Morty today! The first time we’ve hooked up since his crash on the MCC Monday Night Ride on August 27th.  Obviously he has still been riding as he pretty much turn the screws on me all morning long.  I wasn’t feeling it today (perhaps the extended break between rides) and Morty was his old consistent self, turning the pedals at 21mph clip mile after mile.  We had a pretty stiff wind headed down to South Haven and about 20 something miles out I thought to myself that we still nearly 10 full miles before we reached South Haven.

I had a great ride and it gave me the perfect excuse to gently duck inside the house and enjoy the air conditioning the rest of the afternoon.  Noah (my son) and I hung out watched some TV together and then moved onto the Xbox360 for great Halo 3 action.

For years I’ve titled each entry in my cycling blog with the ride number (for the year) and the date of the ride.  As of now I will be moving this data into the body of the post under “Ride Data” and creating a title that is more atune to how I remember the ride.  Perhaps I’ll borrow from the Friends episode naming convention of the “The one with….”  “The one where….” etc.

Cheers-
