I went carpet shopping yesterday. I ended up getting a bit lighter of a carper than I originally planned to, but it was the same quality carpet I put into the basement office and t was in stock and affordable. The best part is that they will verify my measurements this morning and install the carpet tomorrow afternoon.
I am having another coat of paint put onto one wall today. The wall has gotten pretty scuffed up in the final construction phases and with the kids playing down there.
Friday will be a trip to Ikea in Canton. I’m putting a list together of the basics but here is a sample of what I am looking at…
The white desk is for the north wall. The bookcase (3) and cd tower (2) will line the wall on other side of the staircase going upstairs with the lamp on top of the bookcase. The TV stand will going in the square section of the Family room. In addition to the above I’m looking for some basic shelves and frames along with some coasters.
Saturday will likely be post Ikea assembly day!
Monday was spent banging out the ceiling in the Family Room. It actually came together quicker than I thought it would. I also got the tools put away, clutter picked up, vacuumed, and wiped down the walls with the good ole’ swiffer.
This morning I will get accurate measurements for carpet and begin the shopping fun for carpet. I’ve also got a trip to Ikea planned for Friday for some bookcase and desk shopping.
As always… the complete Basement Project gallery of images has been updated. It can be viewed here. 469 images in total… wow!
Today I finally got around to adding a 8-port switch to the single wired LAN connection in the living room. This allowed me to switch the Apple TV and PS3 from Wi-fi to a wired connection on the switch and also connect my DirecTV DVR to the network for the first time and use DirecTV’s on Demand service.
I’ll try to slap together an updated diagram of the LAN and structural wiring in the next couple of weeks.
The kids returned home one day and six hours (30 hours) early last Saturday. My former spouse had something going on. So at 11:00 AM they returned home and we had a pretty easy going day of it. It’s amazing how much of a different vibe that Saturday had compared to other Saturdays. Normally Saturday falls at the very end of our week. I am trying to wrap up everything for the week and prepare for them to return to their Mom. That means cleaning the house and massive amounts of laundry packed in between still trying to get some quality time together on the weekend.
This past Saturday the kids came home and really there was nothing that needed to be done… the vibe was completely different. Much more relaxed and comfortable. We rented movies and picked up Pizza. Our first movie was Meet the Robinson’s followed by Pixar’s Wall-E.
So now my thought turns to what can I do to make every Saturday as easy going as the last….
